Two years ago today Matthew and I tied the knot on a day that was crazy and beautiful and not without faults but wonderful just the same. I’ve never posted more than a few wedding pictures here before, and I thought this week an appropriate one to do so. :)
Our wedding took place before blogging (and PINTEREST) really entered the scene in my life. Those two tools would have probably been enormously helpful, but then again who knows… they may have overwhelmed me even more. I planned our wedding on a pretty small budget while the groom lived in another state and while I was working full time and in my last (full time) semester in college. I was stressed to the max, and in the final run I didn’t even care much about the decisions I was making—I just wanted them made and checked off the list. I’d never really dreamed much of what my wedding would be like, and after a year of long distance at the time, I was just ready to be married to my husband and living in the same state! That was most important to me.
As it stands now, with months of blogging and Pinterest-ing to thank, I would change just about every single detail of my wedding (as far as decorations, bridesmaids’ dresses, color scheme, etc goes), and have put in for a do-over “celebration of love” party in 2015… But that is neither here nor there. I’d love to write more about the wedding some time, but for now I’ll just be posting our pictures in increments over the next couple days. I’ve enjoyed looking through them again, and I hope you will too! All photos were taken by Bend the Light Photography (which we’d highly recommend). :)
GETTING READY
For anyone who might wonder, my dress was from David’s Bridal. Check back this afternoon for pictures from the ceremony! :)

You have the most beautiful eyes Jenni! It's so rare to see a brunette with blue eyes. Very pretty!
ReplyDeletei love how you said you got married before blogging and pinterest (we share in that). but i started laughing when i saw your phone pics because we got married before texting!!
ReplyDeleteso, we REALLY didn't talk to each other before the ceremony-because we couldn't!!
Stunning photos! I always wondered where that strawberry photo was from of you! And now, we know! I can't wait to see more :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't really have Pinterest to help me either (& I just got married in August) ... and I agree, I"m not sure if it would have helped me or stressed me out even more. I see tons of pins on there that make me go 'Oh, wish I would have done that' ... not that I regret a single thing. I had the same feelings as you in terms of getting it made and checking things off the list. It was a crazy time but was an absolute perfect day. I enjoyed seeing your 'Getting Ready Pics' ..You were a stunning bride!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou can see my 'Getting ready pics' @ http://livelaughlovemrsrj.blogspot.com/2012/01/morning-of-our-big-day.html

You are stunning. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteOh and I've always wondered where that strawberry photo was from! So cute :)
Pinterest came into the picture and i was like crap, im going to have to get divorced and then married again.
ReplyDeletei joke.
kinda.
I will let you help me plan W2. i know, im so kind.
(clearly this means youre invited..obviously..)
So pretty!
ReplyDeleteyou are beautiful! i love your wedding pictures!
ReplyDeleteexcited to see more!
happy 2 year anniversary!!! have a fabulous time celebrating!
p.s. i got married before blogging and pinterest too, hehe.
I'm glad I'm not the only bride who planned without Pinterest ;) We were on a fairly small budget and made our day beautiful in every way we could--- but I agree there are a million things I would do differently now that I've seen so many other ideas.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm married to my best friend and we had a beautiful day together with all our families and friends. In the end- THAT is what matters most :)
i would do almost everything different too! except my dress, i truly loved my dress. i'm not into the whole renewal of vows things, cuz as my husband puts it "they don't expire" BUT i am way into a anniversary parties that would put me back into a gorgeous dress with all the fixin's .
ReplyDeletei am sure your church didn't have clown orange carpeting & you can't hear your videographer saying "oh, don't worry, i'm gonna edit this out" ??
you look beautiful! xx
Stunning Stunning Stunning!!!!
ReplyDeleteI ask Kendol all the time if we can get married again so that I can use all of my new/crazy ideas from pinterest ha! He laughs... but I'm serious... kinda..
ReplyDeleteHonestly the most beautiful Texas bride I've ever seen! ;)
ReplyDeleteLookin' forward to those ceremony pictures.

This is gorgeous! Oh my gosh, I can't wait to see more! And I always wondered where that picture of you with the strawberry came from haha. Now I know :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so precious, I am in love! You looked absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure we had the same dress... or ones that looked very similar. You have great taste! :)
ReplyDeleteYay, i've been secretly hoping for a long time now that you would post wedding pictures!!!! Can't wait to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a sucker for wedding stories :) You looked beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that while Pinterest and blogs are helpful with providing inspiration, I do think it is overwhelming when there are SO many options out there! I'm trying to make simple decisions and can't because I see too many options or great ideas and it sends my mind into creating different things I would like to incorporate! My poor Mom thinks I'm going nuts ;)
Can't wait to see more pictures!!
You are so beautiful! I cannot wait to read more. Happy anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteYour wedding looks beautiful! Can't wait to see more. Planning my wedding now (on a budget) it is nice to see others who have pulled it off nicely on a budget. ... though I'm not going to lie. Pinterest has saved my life as both me and my finance both work full time. I just don't have the time to run around and find ideas. It's at my fingertips.
ReplyDeletegoosebumps! I love looking at wedding pictures! The last picture is really cool.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!! I feel the same way...Pinterest would have really helped with the wedding planning!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Kristi
You are so so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd love your dress!!
So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a celebration of love party- I wish I would have had pinterest when I was planning but I think it might have overwhelmed me as well :).
So pretty!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!! I am currently wedding planning but I don't think that Pinterest has really given me many ideas I'm going to use...we shall see! And my fiance and I have been on and off long distance for 6 years. October will not get here soon enough!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful! I think almost every bride wants a re-do on their wedding...too bad we all don't have unlimited funds to make that happen!
ReplyDeleteI've probably spent an unhealthy amount of time dreaming about what my wedding would have been if we'd had Pinterest back then. Oh well, it was perfect just the same :)
ReplyDeletetrue that on the gorgeous eyes comment!!!
ReplyDeleteand i know. i'm with you. i would change SO many things about my wedding. including even my dress, i think! the next one around would be a bit more bohemian, laid back, summery. (compete opposite of my WINTER wedding).
Awww beautiful pictures can't wait to see the rest of them, love the way your hair looks! Xo
ReplyDelete& I forgot to say Happy Anniversary!!!! Xo
ReplyDeleteeeee :) this post made me smile!!! You were SUCH a gorgeous bride - seriously, straight out of a bridal magazine!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I kinda wish blogs and pinterest were not around when I was planning my wedding, because I swear, I was SO overwhelmed with ideas, and changed my mind possible 100 times on every single thing.
That would have saved me a lot of stress!
can't wait for the next wedding post - thank you for sharing :)
Oh Jenni! I totally forgot our Anniversary's were so close to each other. I always love looking at your wedding pictures. I can't believe it was two years ago you guys got married. Time goes so fast! I am still in shock Ryan and I will be married 5 years on Friday... Crazy!
ReplyDeleteI am in your boat. I would re-do everything in my wedding. Of course there was NO pinterest but also due to time constraint of putting the wedding together and STRESS... I think I made zero decisions and let my mom take over. Don't get me wrong my wedding was beautiful, but not completely me. Ryan already told me either 10 year anniversary or 15th we will have a renewal with whatever I want! YAY! He just wants a BIG party after. hehe SO you and Matthew be planning on making that. By then we should be making money. LOL
Gorgeous pics :) Pretty as always!
ReplyDeleteMy dress was from David's Bridal, and I wore a sash too :)
Beautiful Jenni!!! I love you two!! Such a gorgeous couple!
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that I HATE is that our wedding photographers didn't get any pictures of me getting dressed for our wedding! UGH! There were two of them so I don't know HOW they missed that! So, like you, I'm planning for us to have a 2nd wedding a few years so that I can get everything that was missed the first go 'round! lol
so so so gorgoues - i love the last picture of your reflection! i cant wait to see more pictures.
ReplyDeleteand what is this idea of a celebration of love party? is this just another reception kind of thing? i love the idea!
Yes! My favorite pic has got to be the reflection too. I love your dress!
ReplyDeleteLOVE all the pictures!!! you were certainly a gorgeous bride!!
ReplyDeleteyou look gorg! i adore the last picture of you! you certainly were a beautiful bride!!
ReplyDeletelucky matthew ;)
You were a stunning bride!!! I just recently got married but still think of things I would change. I think its unavoidable as styles change and new ideas arise. Part of our restriction were similar to yours--planning while in school and a tiny budget. Someday I want to do it over again for an anniversary :)
ReplyDeletewoo finally the wedding! you are so pretty lady :) and I love how excited you look! marrying your soulmate will do that to you I guess :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat, with planning in my last semester of college and working too. It's crazy craze, but thankfully ours is coming together perfectly. I am one of those girls who's been thinking about the wedding since I fell in love with the boy though, so it's kind of planning itself :)
You look absouutely stunning! Can't wait to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I need a celebration of love party so I can re-do everything!
my dress was form david's bridal, too!! bahaha and i'm also so behind on my recaps- i'm still right dab in the middle and I've been married over a year- sheesh.... these pictures are GORGEOUS- you had GRREAT photographers! can't wait to see more- you are the most gorgeous bride EVER!
ReplyDeleteYour dress is gorgeous! So.. on the topic.. Coming from someone currently planning a wedding.... pinterest and blogging def stress you out more. There are so many ideas, directions to go, and seeing these picture perfect inspiration boards really made it super hard to choose for me! And then you want to blog about every. single. thing. thankfully I made some decisions. Three months away!
ReplyDeleteSo excited about seeing the pictures! You were a beautiful bride, of course :)
ReplyDeleteyou are absolutely gorgeous!!
ReplyDeletexoxo
you were an absolute beauty on your wedding day Jenni, I can't wait for more pictures of this special day! And happy anniversary!!!!!!!! I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness :-)
ReplyDeletelooks like i'm one of many to say, "so THAT'S where that strawberry photo came from".
ReplyDeleteso beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love these!! :)
ReplyDelete(I know I have seen them before, but I don't care. Love, all the same.)
Happy Anniversary, sweet friend!
xo.
The fact that you weren't yet in to Pinterest & blogging at the time has got nothing on how gorgeous you look! :)
ReplyDeletePinterest-Shminterest. Ha! (Funny...you should see my post today. How timely! Argh.)
ReplyDeleteYou were a stunner! (And still are. Timeless beauty.)
And of course, the photos...oh how I love pretty photos. :)
Aaaaannnddd...if you think you'd like to change YOUR deets getting married just two years ago, think about how I feel! A 20 yr. old bride in 1999. GASP! Dude...my photog didn't even have a digital camera and there was way too much "say cheese" going on. I was clueless. CLUE-LESS!
But...I wouldn't change my hub...and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't change yours either. ;)
Happy 2nd Anniversary, Jenni! I pray it's a great day and year for you both.
hello gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteand i'm not even getting married and i'm overwhelmed with all my "pinterest" plans. I have a slight feeling i'll be bridezilla. but that's cool right?
Since I work in college ministry there's an average of fifty million weddings that occur in our social circle every year. (This is an exact number and totally not exaggerated.) With each one I feel like I discover a new idea that I wish I would have known when planning my wedding.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the whole wanting to completely replan your wedding thing; however, based on stalking through your wedding photos - it looks like you made some amazing decisions. I particularly liked your color scheme. :)
These are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletexo,
ashlee
What a gorgeous group of ladies. And you were a stunning bride!
ReplyDeletehttp://shannonhearts.blogspot.com
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing these with us, Jenni and I hope you've enjoyed looking back at those memories of that precious day! :)
ReplyDeleteoh jenni, you are seriously one of the most beautiful women e.v.e.r.
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see more photogggsss!!!
And i'm not married, but i feel like if i got married before pinterest had been invented, i would feel the EXACT same way you do. haha. there are wayyyy too many ideas and options out there, with such easy access to.
Aw, how fun! I love the thought of getting ready with all your best friends for the best day of your life. I can't wait to do this next month for my best friend's wedding. You are simply stunning, friend!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOUR BLOG! I love how you do these blogging memories too! The other day you commented on my blog after I linked up on best of instagram and i honestly felt like a celebrity commented on my blog!! I screamed and my hands were shaking haha so Thanks you so much!! Thanks for taking the time to address the "little blogs" haha. Out of my whole blog list i go through and read everyday, yours is my favorite!

thanks for sharing! I wish I had digital photos of our wedding but we were married back in the day when you got a book of pictures- so I would have to scan (gasp) my photos for the blog- so talk about pre-blogg and pre-pinterest
ReplyDeleteIm ancient :)
I learned something new about you today- A-you have a sister
you were Beautiful as always.duh!
cant wait for more pictures
You are gorgeous, friend!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary to you and Matthew!!
xo
I wish Pinterest had been around when I got married. I, too, would change many things about my wedding, but I also loved it. Your photos are beautiful and I absolutely love the colors you picked. Can't wait to see more. Happy Anniversary, love birds!
ReplyDeleteI totally have the same problem! I would change so many things about our wedding if i could do it over now. Oh well, that ship has sailed for both of us :)
ReplyDeleteAt least we both looked good :)
Omg you looked BREATH TAKING!! Thank you for sharing these with us!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE David's Bridal! I sometimes go to the website and look at the dresses and oh you know...day dream :)
Love the green shoes, and the photo of you eating the strawberries. Very cute. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Everything you just said describes me and my wedding, down to the David's Bridal! Except we have almost been married 6 months, and I had been blogging already and you're right: it was a little overwhelming! Can't wait to see more posts, everything is beautiful so far!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time getting ready...love the strawberry shot...isn't the moment before getting ready just a magical moment!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I never imagined what your wedding was like before!
ReplyDeleteYour dress is beautiful!! So pretty. I love how you matched your ribbon tie around your waist to the bridesmaids dresses! Love the bridesmaids dresses too. Those are definitely dresses you can wear again. Or I would at least!
And it's nice to see pictures of your friends, and your sister! Does she have a blog too?
i seriously thank the internet world for creating pinterest & blogs before my wedding day. pinterest is the ultimate wedding planner. you sure made a pretty bride.
ReplyDeleteDamn you, Pinterest! Jenni, I feel the exact same way! I got married in 2007 at the ripe old age of 20 (insane, I know). We were in our last year college, both working and living away from the city we were getting married in, and we were at the mercy of our parent's bank accounts for wedding planning. I would change just about EVERYTHING in my wedding...right down to the month I got married in. I made all kinds of wedding mistakes (like having all of my bridesmaids rock the same hairstyle...what in the hell was I thinking?!) Thank God those girls still like me! HA!
ReplyDeleteBut, I must say, you looks stunning and your wedding looks beautiful even without the help of Pinterest! You've got great taste, lady! :) Happy Anniversary to you both!
You were such a beautiful bride! I'm in the middle of planning my wedding for next June. Pinterest has been awesome but completely overwhelming! I'm trying to keep a good balance with that.
ReplyDeletep.s. I just ordered my dress from David's Bridal too - wahoo for economical dresses ;)
Yay! I'm so excited that you finally are sharing your wedding photos! I have planned my wedding at least 35 times because of Pinterest! lol
ReplyDeleteYour photographers took excellent action shots! It's not easy to take action shots not only because these are moving shots, but also because you don't want to ask your subject to do what she did a while ago. The strawberry shot looks wicked cute! :)
ReplyDelete[Kindra Leomiti]
Cool! This is just the ‘getting ready’ part and yet, I’m getting all excited about what would come next. The photos are gorgeous and uplifting. Kudos to your photographers for producing amazing photos like these! Anyway, do you have pictures of the actual wedding that I could see? =)
