As promised, here are most of the rest of your answered questions! I’m still holding out hope that Matthew will make an appearance in a vlog in the near future, but don’t hold your breath. ;)
Let’s turn it back over to Matthew!! (once again, I inserted my own comments here and there…)
He WILL kill me for using this picture, but I just can’t help myself. It looks like a picture from a tabloid, doesn’t it? I can just see the caption now… “Matthew out shopping… he’s just like US!”
What made you decide to be a lawyer—lifelong dream?
I've always had a desire to go to law school and become an attorney. I don't think it was a lifelong dream though. I've done well in my business and felt like it was time to take the next step in my long term career goals.
If you could only pick one, what is one trait from Jenni you would want your kids to have? One that you wouldn’t want them to have?
Jenni has a great heart, is very intelligent, and has a memory like an elephant. (that’s three babe.) I wish I had her memory. I have an awful memory. I have to write myself reminder notes to look at my reminder note. I wouldn't want our kids to have her procrastination. And it's not that Jenni procrastinates, it's just that she lacks discipline to get started on things. (alas, ‘tis true) A great quote that I love says: "Discipline is doing the things you hate, but doing them like you love them." Guess who said that? Mike Tyson. I know, i know. Not only is it smart, but maybe the only complete sentence he's ever articulated.
What is Jenni's biggest pet peeve with you?
I think I have like 492 that are all tied for 1st place. She gets frustrated that I can't remember what I did that morning. I always have to remind her that I deal with so many stresses that my brain has to make room for the really important stuff. (of course, sometimes our opinions differ on what’s important… ;) She gets frustrated with my impatience and that I'm always hungry. (the man eats like 6 meals a day!!)
I am sure there are many things you love about Jenni, but what was the one “thing” that really spoke to you saying this is THEE girl? The first time I looked in her eyes. I knew right away. She was gonna be my wife whether she wanted to or not. :)
Jenni does a lot of outfit posts, but what is your favorite sort of outfit to see her in? Glamorous? Casual? Sweatpants/hair tied chillin with no make up on? (lil Drake lyrics)
Hmmm...my parents read this so I can't answer honestly. Soooo, my second favorite would be glamorous. Probably because I never really get to see her that way. (And no babe, this isn't an open invitation to go shopping). (and by saying he never gets to see me that way, I don’t THINK he means it’s because I’m a slob… it’s because we rarely go anywhere that calls for “glamorous” dress!)
What is it like being married to a(n) (awesome) blogger? e.g. Very well knowing many things in life are documented. I'm really torn on the whole blog thing. On one hand, it takes a lot of time away from our relationship and it gets really annoying when she's always taking pictures or doing things for this whole other world. (as discussed in last week’s post, we are working on a bit more balance :) On the other hand, it's something that she really loves and it's helped her to grow and mature. It's also helped her learn what her passion is. Jenni is an amazing photographer and really has an eye for turning everyday things into art.
Any advice for other blogger husbands/boyfriends? Dude. I have no idea. Perhaps we should come together and create our own blog and start a battle of the sexes. We could talk about fun stuff...like guns, sports, preparing for the end of the world, guns, and guns. It would probably fail though. Our blogging time would be seriously interrupted by having to take outfit pictures for our wives' blog. (good point.)
What are some good gift ideas for the guy who doesn't want much?
I'm hard to shop for. If I want something, I just go get it. I like thoughtful gifts. I've been asking Jenni for a photo album of my favorite pictures of her! I like coupon books that I get to use at any time; none of that 24 hour notice crap (hint hint wifey). Make him his favorite dinner. Stuff like that.
What are some things you like to do?
I like to shoot guns, hunt, spend time at the ranch, dinner and a movie with Jenni, spend time with our dogs, prepare for the end of the world, camping (which Jenni and I need to do), etc.
Would you rather be superhumanly smart, or superhumanly strong and athletic? Probably superhumanly smart. Being strong and athletic only gets you so far. Sure, you can make a ton of money, but that does nothing to help humanity. I'd rather give gifts to the world, like curing cancer or AIDS. I just don't want being so smart to give me a big head. Not talking about my ego. I literally mean I don't want my super awesome brain to make my head huge ...that would just be weird.

Ha ha, indeed. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this for us Matthew!! And if anyone missed his first Q&A session, check it out here. Happy Monday!

I really want to hang out with you two. He is hilarious, just like you are. I loved the "she was going to be my wife whether she wanted to or not". Hahah! And I too struggle with the just not starting on things. Ugh. It's an issue!
ReplyDeleteOh God if all the men made a blog together...
ReplyDelete1. Perhaps I'm a little bias to think my husband is the handsomist but I think Matthew comes in at a close second. Crap he looks like a celeb in that pic!
ReplyDelete2. Glad to know Matthew's memory is just as bad as Beau's. What's wrong with these boys?! Beau can hardly remember if he brushed his teeth or not?!
3. "She was gonna be my wife whether she wanted to or not" Melt my friggin' heart.
4. His advice on the blog...hysterical. I don't think he could have said it any better from a guy's point of view. Could you IMAGINE if our men blogged?? Dear God. That'd be a sight to see (or read.)
5. I so love this (again.) I keep asking Beau to blog for me and this is the ONLY thing he says he'll actually do (like a Q&A thing). I just might have to let him do it after all...
Great post get to see the other side of things!
ReplyDeleteBless these men who willingly accommodate our hobbies! My favorite line: Dude. I have no idea. ha! :)
ReplyDeleteNice post Jenni & Matthew! Your hubby makes me laugh, he has a great sense of humor & you had me laughing when you said slob lol!! I love when he said he knew you were the one when he looked in your eyes awww! Xo
ReplyDeleteI've never commented before but I've gotta say your photo caption cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteOh.MY.Gosh. Alan eats ALL the freaking time too. Sometimes he eats items that I bought to use for a meal. Therefore, I have to go back to Walmart (aka Hell) to buy the item he ate so I can feed my family dinner. UGH!
ReplyDeleteGuess who said that? Mike Tyson. I know, i know. Not only is it smart, but maybe the only complete sentence he's ever articulated."- that might be one of the funniest things ive read in a long time..
ReplyDeletei love these posts Jenni.
how doooo they eat so much?? i'm baffled. great answers matthew!!
ReplyDeletei see a bit of a theme, something about "preparing for the end of the world". i'll be sure to let you know when i see can foods on sale at major nation-wide stores.
ReplyDeletethanks for the cute glimpse into ya'll's life...it was sweet AND funny.
He needs to make regular appearances on your blog. I love these! So fun to read and hear the other point of view. I also love your input, jenni. Makes it feel like we're just chatting w you two. :)
ReplyDeleteOh God, this post is even better than the other one!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny!
His comments about having a big head or about creating a blog for blogger husbands were just hilarious!
"Manblogs"-watch out world! I know what you mean about the incessant eating thing. Aren't our guys done growing by now!? C'mon! Oh, and WHY is it so hard to get started on things?? An extensive to-do list can be so intimidating. I'd rather avoid it than tackle it most days... - Thanks to Matthew for his guest appearance! I do think they need to have a "spouses of bloggers" support group :-)
ReplyDeleteHahaha. He seriously sounds just like my husband with the whole "blogging is annoying" thing. But hey! Mathew should be happy that my blog post today is all about guns BECAUSE of my husband. Husbands influence blog land more than they know :)
ReplyDeleteKyle eats SO MUCH, especially when he's in one of his intense workout-training phases. Our grocery bill jumps up like crazy. We have totally fought about a food item being completely gone the day after I purchased it.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I swear my husband wrote the "advise for husbands" answer! Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteHa! The whole battles of the sexes...my husband would be in. He thinks the world should revolve around hunting, fishing and guns.
ReplyDeleteMatthew cracks me up! I wish you two were my real-life-couple-friends.
ReplyDeleteAlso I think Matthew should start guest posting. It would definitely be a hit ;) and then he could see how hard it is to come up with topics sometimes ha!
hahahahaha his answer about the boys' blog being interrupted by taking pics of outfits for the girls' blog made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteOh and he looks like a Ken doll in that picture.
xx

ReplyDeleteBahahaha, my husband eats a lot too! I guess he is 6'6 but he pretty much gets done with one meal and then it's time to plan another. And he burns it all off about 5 times as fast as me.
ReplyDeleteYour husband sounds like such a nice, funny, intelligent guy! You two are a perfect match!
ReplyDeletewho is lil drake? is that drake's little brother?
ReplyDeletealos, IF matthew ever started a blog and IF my dad started a blog, they would be each other's first followers (though i would drop dead from shock if either of those things ever happened), as i'm sure my dad's blog would consist of guns, guns, african safari, guns and hunting dogs.
Gotta say, that Mike Tyson quote is a pretty darn good one. I probably should write that down somewhere to refer to it often in all the things i hate doing. (tell him thanks for saying it)
ReplyDeleteG is the exact same way with gifts. He gets whatever he wants and when it comes time for me to get him something, he'll always say a coupon book or favorite meal. So I gave him a coupon book for Christmas and the whole time he was here, he didn't even touch it...saying he saved it for later. ((should have put an expiration date on it..))
Emily at Amazing Grapes
He reminds me a lot of my fiancee, he likes manly stuff too, haha. Great post!
ReplyDeleteCan we double date? Plz? Matthew's awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at Mike Tyson. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI just laughed out loud. So. Hard. Mostly I'm obsessed with the fact that he knows a Mike Tyson quote. I didn't know Mike Tyson knew English.
ReplyDeleteI just thought of a good question! Does Matthew take all the pictures of you?? The fashion ones??
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I love this.
ReplyDeleteHe is such a guy's guy. Him and my hubby sound so similar. I love that he couldn't answer what his favorite thing for you to wear is and I cracked up at the man blog idea. Honestly...I think he's got something there.
bahahaha i think my boyfriend could probably second almost everything matthew has to say :)
ReplyDeleteThose were great answers! I still think it's so romantic and sweet that Matthew knew you were the one as soon as he saw you!! I can only wish that would happen to me! Actually, I wish that I could look into a man's eye and know HE was the one! Because I have no clue what kind of guy I want in the long run!
ReplyDeleteBut I am with Matthew on the 'forgetting things' issue! I forget things ALL the time! Wish I didn't, but it happens a lot.
Wow, Matthew and my husband have so much in common it's not even funny! They should start some kind of married-to-bloggers support group. Like Matthew, he hates taking photos of me all the time, he eats about 16 meals a day (makes grocery shopping super expensive!), and he likes to hunt (and he's married to a vegetarian yoga teacher, go figure). Another awesome post!
ReplyDeleteI love the Ask Matthew Q&A's!!! He is totally hilarious. Both posts 1 & 2 had me cracking up and my boyfriend looking at me like I was crazy, while reading on my Google Reader App on my phone. I hope this little series continues.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW. This is such a great idea! :D How fun!!!
ReplyDeleteLove all the answers...
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend isn't a fan of blogging either. He isn't a fan of anything being out on the interwebs but he sees all the amazing people that it has brought into my life and he sees how much I love it, that he does support it. I do worry that once we are married that he's not going to want me blogging as much though :( Hopefully he will come around like Matthew has (kinda??)
I LOVE the questions about gifts. He seems so easy to shop for and simple. Very cute post, thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI've tagged you sweet girl! Join in on the fun if you'd like to, or just enjoy seeing what I've written from my turn of being tagged.
ReplyDeletelove, Mel

Love, love, love this! Haha I like how he says guys' blogs would be interrupted whenever they had to take pictures for wives' blogs!
ReplyDeleteLuvv, Leigh B
I laughed out-loud hysterically about the advice to other bloggers' husbands. My fiance loves my blog- even when I'm being kinda bitchy in a post...but he still teases me. I think if all our guys had to have a blog it would turn out maybe one post a month. Most straight men aren't that committed to communicating with something not in their immediate vicinity. If they can't shoot it, eat it, or see it naked- they're not interested...all that testosterone. God bless 'em!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the always hungry thing!
ReplyDeleteI remember when Don and I were first married.
He ate FIVE grilled cheese sandwiches to tide him over before Thanksgiving dinner. F-I-V-E.
bottomless they are.
And Matthew for the win! (again)
ReplyDeleteCome. On. Though.
Do a Vlog. For us. Jenni will even cook your favorite meal. I promise. (err.. right, J?)
jenni my bf has the worst memory too! once the day before the chargers game HE was going to with his friends he asked me why he wasn't invited to watch the game at the bar.....well, because YOU'RE going to the game. ahahaha.
ReplyDeleteahhh! i love you two! you guys are seriously the cutest!
Ooohhh, I just finished the School of Lawz, and it was quite the experience :)
ReplyDeleteThe two of you are just amazing! I want to hang out, hehe.
ReplyDeleteand i just love the picture on top because i can just so see that caption on it, haha.
have a fabulous week!
hahaha I can picture the man blog... that would be so interesting to read though. haha
ReplyDeleteHe answered my question! :) I wiggled when I saw it. He had a good answer too.
ReplyDeleteYou should do like Megan, and make a vlog of him without him knowing. That would be ... very very funny.
The reply on the husbands/boyfriends comment made my die laughing
ReplyDeleteAhahah! Your hubby is hilarious! "..Guns and guns...Our blogging time would be seriously interrupted by having to take outfit pictures for our wives' blog" Made me laugh so hard I made my hubby read and he laughed too! I think they would get along too well ;)
ReplyDeleteguns guns and more guns. sounds like our men would get along just perfectly. which p.s, now that i'm engaged, we're officially moving to houston in the fall! i forget, are you in austin or houston? cause if it's the latter, a blate has GOT to happen.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny guy! I definitely laughed out loud after reading his advice to other blogger husbands and boyfriends! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is great. Matthew really cracks me up. I especially like his advice for other blogger husbands... totally reminded me of my husband. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteI adore that photo of him above!! He really does look like US! :) What are some things you like doing... prepare for the end of the world.. I die of laughter. and having to take pics for our wives' outfit pictures... classic. I just adore you two!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely honest answers from Matthew! He sounds exactly like my boyfriend that I never have the courage to tell him how annoying his memory is or how hard he is to shop for. :) x
ReplyDeleteI loved his response to the one about starting a guy blog!
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny because I write pretty openly about my love life on my blog and since I'm single, I always wonder how it will affect relationships. I think it's great he's so supportive!
ReplyDeleteJenni. I'm just gonna say it. and you're going to be fine.
ReplyDeleteyou definitely have the most attractive husband in blogland.
and lets move on.
