(Haven’t done my hair in approximately 2 weeks. It’s just too hot.)
(delicious recipe here—I subbed salmon)
This week has been weird, and it’s only Tuesday.
Don’t worry, nothing bad has happened. Unless you call horrible writer’s block and complete lack of zest for life BAD. (Ok, when I put it that way, it DOES kind of sound bad.)
I blame this on PMS and the 146 degree heat, and expect it should pass within a few more days. But tonight? Tonight calls for wine and ice cream. I’ve already enjoyed (and am still enjoying) the wine, and I plan to indulge in the ice cream as soon as I hit publish on this post.
A few notable things have happened, by the way.
a) Edd had an MRI, and his tumors are shrinking! We are so grateful.
b) I went to Allison’s and held her baby a while, during which time he cried his first REAL tears. As in, actual tear drops. Allison said to me, “oh! This is his first time ever crying real tears!”
Basically, he was genuinely unhappy to be with me. Is this an omen?
c) It is so hot out that the sun is actual charring our plants. Like, blackening them. Living things are curling up, turning black, and dying. Is it any wonder that I’m grumpy?
Anyway. This post wasn’t meant to be gripey, but it’s just how I’m feeling at the moment, I suppose.
I’ve decided that tomorrow will be better. But today? Wine. And ice cream.
We all have those days, yes?
Hope you’re having a fahhhbulous week. :)

I feel you about the week...I'm currently drinking a margarita! Hope the wine helps :-)

ReplyDeleteThat dinner looks delicious!! I'll definitely be looking at the recipe and seeing if I can make it look even half as good as you did! I'm SO happy to hear the good news about Edd!! And, um, charred plants? Really? Sheesh! Hope you're staying cool and enjoying that wine & ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteOh man, weeks that start off rough deserve some wine and ice cream. Huge praise for Edd! Prayers will continue friend.
ReplyDeleteYup, one of those weeks all around. Wine, ice cream and some cupcakes are in order.
ReplyDeleteI think I will join you in the wine and ice cream adventures once I finish working. :-)
I live in corpus christi so i totally feel your heat and charred plant pain! One of my plants that I was told was supposed to be super tough by the nursery owner has kicked the bucket! and that's with a good watering every other day!
ReplyDeletei too am drinking wine! we are even escaping to gruene for the weekend to float or sit in the river and drink beer and wine!

No idea that plants could actually do that?? Holy crap, I don't know how you live there and deal with that heat!
ReplyDeleteThe heat. It must go. I know it's not nearly as bad here, but dudette, old house. No ac.
ReplyDeleteI hate wishin my life away but I had visions of fall this morn and I have to say, I just looked soooo happy. I was smiling and twirling and leafs were falling around me and my perfectly ripe pumpkins.
Ilovesummer. Ilovesummer. Ilovesummer.
You are not alone girl. It has been way to warm here the last couple of days. So warm the thought of getting in a warms shower makes me cringe. Instead, I just slap on some deodorant and body splash! TMI? I think yes. But we gotta keep it real right? haha love your blog girl!
ReplyDeleteseriously, that is how i am feeling right now ... just so darn hot ... only sadness is that i don't have any ice cream or wine!
ReplyDeletethat meal looks oooh so delish and even with your hair not done you look fabulous!
It has been so humid and muggy here too. Several times it has been 92% humidity. Yuck! I definitely need a drink after a day like today, but sadly no hubby at home to share it with :(
ReplyDeleteGreat news about Edd! And you forgot to mention that every time Davis looked at you, he smiled... so the only reason he was crying REAL tears is because he was sad he wasn't getting to see your face :) Hope the wine and ice cream are successful in lifting your spirits!
ReplyDeleteYou dinner made my mouth water. Wine and ice cream sounds perfect. Cheer up beautiful.
ReplyDeletePMS is a nasty little devil. Hope you feel better, Jenni!
ReplyDeleteamy day to day
YAAAAAY that's such encouraging news about Edd!!
ReplyDeleteI've had the same block lately. Ice cream has been helping with my moods as well. That and chocolate milk!
Stay cool, friend!
This recipe looks awesome & I'll be trying it as soon as we get back from vacation! Hope it cools down a bit for you soon!!
ReplyDeleteyummy recipe! it's been a hot one over here too, ugg!! We'll be having salmon burgers and fruit for dinner and im currently drinking a frosty marg! yum!
ReplyDeleteWow! charred plants? That's crazy! I don't blame you for feeling cranky. I'd be cranky too!
ReplyDeleteour plants are doing the same thing down here in boerne. :(
ReplyDeleteand the heat, it's awful, it's past 8pm and still 103 degrees?!
whine away, girl!
I actually like your "nothing to say" posts. :) And seriously, a big PRAISE for Edd's health. Still praying for that.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the good news about Edd! That's really great :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, we all have those days. 2 weeks ago you would have thought that my world was ending. PMS is no fun. I'll give you the same advice that I gave Alisha- scream into a pillow. It helps.
one of those weeks over here too! i was thinking you should do a giveaway with one of your photos from your etsy shop! force people to tweet the link to your shop kinda thing? i'd do it! they are so adorable :)
ReplyDeletethose plants are unbelievable! That is so crazy!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely having one of those days :( Tomorrow will be better. It just has to be.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, most of my nights end in a bowl of ice cream. And I don't even feel guilty about it!
ReplyDeleteThat food looks delightful!
i love b. "awww how sweet! you made our baby cry." hahaha.
ReplyDeletelove, little.
THAT REMINDS ME! I have wine!
ReplyDeleteYes! Going to grab some now while I write my own blog post about a bachelorette party. Fitting, right?
Im a firm believer that enough wine and ice cream and we could cure the world.
ReplyDeleteSuch great news about Edd!
I hate days/weeks like that :(
ReplyDeleteBut what great news about Edd!
I totally had one of those days today, too! Day 2 of potty training my little boy... Fun, fun. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI really hope tomorrow is much better for you! It's crazy hot here, too, and I'm WAY further north (MO)!
OH, and that is awesome news about Edd. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWe all have gripey days here and there. That's what the wine is for!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news about Edd!!! I'm so happy to hear that, I actually gasped out loud when I read it!
that glass of wine looks divine!
ReplyDeleteand my poor hydrangea and rose bush are beat by the heat. its so sad. i hope they survive the summer!
That's great news about Edd!
ReplyDeleteNot so great news about the weird week. Funny thing though, I've been so frustrated and irritable all week too. Ice cream definitely helps ;)
The dinner looks amazing! I am glad you're looking after yourself, it sounds like an annoying week. And that is so so wonderful about Edd!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis post isn't gripey... that was a BIG praise about Edd's health! So good to hear!
ReplyDeleteAnd your dinner looks so yummy, I've been wanting to cook some salmon so I may have to try that!
Oh my! Yum!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hot... ready for things to cool down. I've been rocking the same hair-do all summer long.
ReplyDeleteThose tomatos look delicious! What are they dressed with?
I know how you feel girl, this week has definitely been one of those weeks for me, and i am not even half way through! I am hoping this heat breaks soon so maybe i will feel better about life in general!

Oh yes ma'am we all have those days. And wine and ice cream will fix any one of them! Ok. This is getting ridiculous Jenni: I own the shirt you have on in your pic (JCrew, right?) in an oatmeal color...and I'm PMSing this week (tmi?). Enough with all this twin business! Can we just proclaim that we were really switched at birth? :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's great news about Edd!!
ReplyDeleteAww- that is so fantastic that Edd's tumors are shrinking! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd how depressing that the sun is literally blackening your plants!!
Wine and me are BFF's :) That salmon looks DELICIOUS!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all.... "Yay!" to the good news about Edd. That is wonderful. Secondly, I'd be w(h)ine-y too if it was 146 degrees here. ;) I shed a tear, or ten, when it hits approximately 89 degrees with humidity. Yuck! I have been indulging in more ice cream recently... it helps a little. Hopefully the wine and ice cream (preferably not mixed) lift your spirits!
ReplyDeleteI definitely feel you about this week, but I'm confident your week will get better. :) Besides, wine and ice cream? You're already off to a good start
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon! God has a plan! :)
ReplyDeleteJenni, I'm so glad you haven't done your hair either! I am feeling the same way. It's just too hot! I love long hair but let me tell you, it has been up lately! The salmon looks yummy, I had that tonight as well! I hope your ice cream is D'LISH, and yes we all have these days, promise!

ReplyDeleteHey Sweet Friend...to cheer up come see some precious survivors I've posted! You will love them, really, truly! Have I ever given you a 'bum steer', bwahahaha you Texan you!
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Yeah, agreed. I basically slept through the whole day. I couldn't even help it, I was just so tired!
ReplyDeleteice cream fixes any problem. except an expanding waistline- it definitely only adds to that. but whatever.
ReplyDeleteand it's crazy that the sun is literally charring your plants! i didn't even know that was possible.
oh lady!! the plants, the plants!! it's gonna get better. it's bound to get better. it'll get better, right?!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we all have these days. I've been having those days here a lil too often. Maybe ice cream and wine are the remedy?! Yes yes?? MIGHT have to try it ;)
ReplyDeleteOh...GREAT news about Edd!!! <3
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing the recipe - I'm going to have to try that very soon! And that is amazing news about Edd - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAnd wine and ice cream is completely justifiable during "those days" or more commonly for me "those weekdays"
Hopefully today turns out to be much better!
He was probably crying because he's not old enough to eat that delicious salmon and rice dinner which I totally want.
ReplyDeleteThe heat can be so oppressive!! Hope you're staying cool and finding a way to survive it. We'll be praying for cooler temps post haste!
The food looks so good! And it's so colorful I love it! At first it looked like you were at a restaurant but I guess that's your dining room/kitchen!
ReplyDeleteThat's such good news about Edd! Will continue to pray.
And wow, charred plants?! Ridiculous Texas heat! :p Hope your Wednesday gets better than the other days have been!
Yay about Ed! That is great news :)
ReplyDeleteSee, when you said how you think the baby was unhappy with you, I was thinking that it was cool that he was crying real tears and you could witness it!
Wine and ice cream...sounds good. I actually never drink wine though, because I always think it all tastes the same. But maybe just need to try more of them?
Ah, it is finally cooling down around here, thank you God.
ReplyDeleteOur grass is all fried and yellow like hay though... waiting on a good rainfall to bring everything back to life!
3 things!
ReplyDeleteYour dinner looks delicious!
So glad to hear the tumor is shrinking. That is an answer to prayer.
My hair has looked the same way for the past couple of weeks. Something about standing under a hot blow dryer just isn't appealing to me!
Aww sorry to hear you've had a rough week, I can relate to you with that...maybe it IS all this heat. That wine you have looks delish and I LOVE the bottle, too cute :) Hope you're week gets better!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteDang....and I thought the heat was bad in VA. My husband and I just happened to move here on the record hottest day of the year, and I was lucky to drive his un-air conditioned SUV full of stuff. I was pretty much feeling the way you are that day.
ReplyDeleteBut in other news, that salmon looks delish. And fantastic news about Edd! That is excellent to hear.
Wine & ice cream definitely make any day better! Your dinner looks absolutely delish!! And lastly, and most importantly: So happy to hear that Edd's tumors are shrinking! That's such wonderful news!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a better day today!
146 degree weather would make me grumpy too, but at least you have ice cream (: your week will get much better jen
ReplyDeleteI blame the heat. It's too much!! You eat that ice cream!!
ReplyDeleteNew blogger and new follower: )
ReplyDeleteLove your bloggy: )

My week has been the exact same way! I hope the rest of your week is better! xo
ReplyDeleteI've been having multiple wine and ice cream nights... SO one night is totally acceptable. In fact, gripe... do it. I'll gripe... I HATE the fact that it is THIS hot outside. It has been 100 degrees for as long as I can remember. I hate not spending summer outside!
ReplyDeleteAnnnnd I feel better. Time for a popsicle.
such a pretty lady you are!
ReplyDeleteWine + Ice Cream sound like the perfect solution to a blah Tuesday!
ReplyDeletescuse me...i thought you were in a restaurant in these pics and then i remembered reading that post about how you had brick in your dining room! LOOOOOVE IT! so chic!
ReplyDeleteok now that ive deviated from the point of this post, that food looks delicious...so tasty!
